Government shutdowns hurt everyone.
Pennsylvanians are facing dual government dysfunction. Our state government still hasn’t passed a budget nearly three months after the due date, and now we’re facing a national government shutdown too.
PA school districts and counties are already feeling the pinch without a state budget. They’re being forced to take out loans, furlough staff, and now even more critical social services, and many Pennsylvanians’ paychecks are being threatened because of billionaire backed MAGA Republicans in Congress.
It’s up to us to put pressure on our elected officials. They’re supposed to be working for us, and they’re actively refusing to give our communities the resources we all need. PA Senate Republicans are holding up our state budget. Tell them to get to work, and get this budget passed!
As this administration’s policies continue to fail working families, MAGA Congress members are also trying to take away our access to critical services like healthcare, making it more expensive and less accessible at a time when most of us are barely scraping by. That ain’t right! Tell Congress we need a budget that lowers healthcare costs now!
Things may look bleak right now, and there are serious consequences to stalling passing the budget and a government shutdown. Despite this, I still have radical hope. We know that these attacks are precisely what failed leaders do to shield themselves from the will of the people, but we won’t let them wriggle out of their responsibilities! This past Sunday, over 150 Pennsylvanians gathered for our State Mass Meeting! It was electrifying to see so many faces and hear from folks across the commonwealth who are committed to building stronger communities.
Together we learned, connected with one another, celebrated our wins, and helped folks find their place in the fight for a PA that works for everyone. The fight for a better future starts with the Nov 4th judicial retention election, and it’s going to take all of us doing our part to win. This election will impact PA for the next 10 years, and our safety is at stake. The Supreme Court of PA is our last line of defense against the failed federal leadership who is trying to rob us of our rights and freedoms. The opposition is utilizing dark money, lies, and PA’s richest man, billionaire Jeff Yass. Yass is flooding PA with misleading mailers that flat out LIE about the PA Supreme Court’s role in shaping our congressional maps. Fact check: The Supreme Court rejected gerrymandered maps drawn by Republicans. That’s why billionaires like Jeff Yass want them gone.
Jeff Yass will stop at nothing to dismantle the court that stands up for everyday people, fair elections, and basic rights. Don’t let him. We can and will keep each other safe. Vote YES, not Yass on November 4 when the Supreme Court justices are on the ballot.
