Hi Friends,
Immigration has always been a cornerstone of our nation’s story—a story of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of a better life. But today, our immigrant neighbors are under attack.
This past Monday, the Trump administration signed three new executive orders targeting immigrant communities: empowering law enforcement to pursue immigrants, cracking down on sanctuary cities, and creating new barriers for immigrant workers. These policies don’t just harm immigrants—they make all of us less safe by dividing communities and weakening our collective power.
For me, this fight is deeply personal. In 2019, my husband, Matt, lost his job just before the pandemic. As we were navigating the path to his citizenship, he was forced to leave the country under Trump-era policies. With a heavy heart, he returned to Germany, leaving a hole in our family that remains today. I know firsthand the pain of having a loved one taken away due to their immigration status, and I would not wish this on anyone.
These attacks are not about protecting communities—they’re about scapegoating immigrants so that greedy corporate landlords and billionaires who manipulate markets for profit are the real culprits. Immigrants contribute so much to our economy and culture as small business owners, essential workers, caregivers, and community leaders.
We will not stand idly by while these attacks continue. On Monday, in coalition with powerful voices across our ecosystem, we are heading to Harrisburg to stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. Deportations destroy families and lives, and we will fight to ensure dignity, respect, and justice for all.
You can be part of the solution. Join us in advocating for immigrants’ rights, housing justice, fair wages, and equitable healthcare. Immigrants are not the enemy—greedy corporations and corrupt billionaires are.
Together, we can create a Pennsylvania that works for ALL people, whether or not we were born here. Let’s build bridges, not barriers, and ensure that our shared story is one of inclusion, justice, and progress.
In community,
Edwin
