New campaign finance reports revealed that Jeff Yass made a $16 million donation to Donald Trump’s super PAC just weeks before Trump abruptly dropped the TikTok ban—and made Yass billions of dollars richer.
You know the saying: You gotta spend money to make money. So while the White House weighed TikTok’s fate, Yass was making it rain.
For billionaires like Yass, politicians aren’t public servants; they’re investment vehicles, expected to deliver returns. We see it in Harrisburg, where 1 in 3 state legislators have taken his money since 2017. And we’ve seen the consequences: A blown up budget that slashes essentials like schools and public transit instead of taxing the richest Pennsylvanians.
That’s why our eyes are on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court race this November. A fair, independent court is one of the strongest defenses we have against billionaires purchasing policy decisions. And Yass knows it. In 2023, he spent big to influence judicial races all across Pennsylvania, and we expect him to dump millions more to tilt the scales of justice in his favor this fall.
In the meantime, we can’t let billionaires buy out one more politician. Twenty one principled legislators have already pledged to reject Yass’s money and influence—check to see if your representative is one of them. Yass is ramping up his political spending and he expects it to pay off. With midterm elections next year, he’s on pace to spend $150 million this year alone—50% more than he did in 2024. He may have the money, but we have the people, and when we come together, we have the power.
