Hi Friends,
We’re talking to folks across the commonwealth, and all their upcoming election concerns lead back to one overarching political agenda – Trump’s Project 2025 which puts our families, friends, and neighbors at risk.
We’re hearing our neighbors share concerns about their civil rights, the environment, accessible healthcare, affordable housing, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, social security, voting rights, democracy, and other issues that Project 2025 will jeopardize. To see how Project 2025 will affect issues you care about, click here.
Ricardo, a community member from Bethlehem, told Maria, our Movement Politics Director, on a phone call last week that he feels like his household is divided across parties and that he dislikes both major parties. He was recently laid off and is struggling to afford his mortgage. Now, his wife is the sole income provider, and they’re worried about affording their next mortgage payment. Things are especially hard because their child has a disability, and Ricardo cares for them around the clock while also trying to find a job. When Maria shared about Project 2025, Ricardo was curious because he didn’t know much about it. He wants to learn more, especially regarding his son’s ability to receive care. He’s tired of greedy corporations profiting while his family suffers. He left the conversation still unsure but extremely grateful for someone to talk to about what his family is dealing with. Like Ricardo, we all have concerns about how this election will affect us and our families, and sometimes all it takes is one conversation to get tuned in.
This is what organizing looks like – talking to community members about what they need and sharing how we can obtain those resources together. We must have these conversations and be honest about what Project 2025 means for our families and communities. It’s time for our government to work for working people, not greedy billionaires and corporations. It’s up to us to do something. Our communities deserve to thrive, not just survive. We all deserve to live with safety, dignity, and the resources we need. Together, we’re building a Pennsylvania that works for all of us.
