You should run for office.
Yes, you! We need working people in elected office. People who care deeply about their community, who listen to and work with their neighbors, not billionaires trying to make a profit at our expense.
Working people are struggling to make ends meet due to higher prices and stagnating wages that leave us with little in our pockets while billionaires line theirs. In Trump’s economy, we’re paying more and getting less; we’re bracing for healthcare premium increases while the wealthy make more and more off of our labor. Our rights are being threatened and taken away. Our family, friends, and neighbors, especially those who are queer and/or BIPOC, are being unjustly targeted by this administration and disappeared by ICE. We all deserve to live with safety and dignity, and when that’s threatened, we all have the responsibility to take action.
This billionaire backed administration tries to make our community members our enemies because they know we’re stronger together, but we know the truth. The rich are getting richer while working people are stretched thin, and that’s not right! It doesn’t have to be this way, and Pennsylvanians are working together to strengthen our communities and protect each other.
Pennsylvanians are resilient, and in last month’s election, we saw many working people grounded in community win their elections! People like you and I who care about our neighbors and are willing to do what it takes to get the resources we need ran and won. In my hometown, Downingtown, my neighbors elected our Commonwealth’s first openly trans mayor, Erica Deuso. In Luzerne County, Democrats flipped 4 county council seats, regaining their majority for the first time in 6 years. We retained PA’s State Supreme Court justices, and so many member endorsed candidates across PA Stands Up chapters won!
November’s election proved we’re stronger together, and we have the power to win! I’m still feeling motivated and inspired by what we did and what we’ll continue to do together to make PA a Commonwealth that works for all of us. To win, we need candidates who will put working people first and co-govern with constituents. Running for office is a way to care for our communities, and people from all walks of life have perspectives to offer in public office. If not you, then who? If not now, then when? Learn how to run and win at Seeds of Governance: How to Run Win training hosted by our friends at the Working Families Party in Philadelphia, January 23-25th.
If running for office isn’t for you, get involved another way!
In community,
Hannah
PA Stands Up End of Year Campaign is here, and we need your help raising $5,000 from now until the end of the year! We know a better future is possible, and every dollar raised goes directly to our work on the ground, fighting for a Pennsylvania that works for all working people. Can we count on you?
