Just in time for spooky season, some PA voters experienced quite a fright this week! Due to recent humidity, some mail-in ballot return envelopes and secrecy envelopes are arriving sealed. If you receive a sealed return or secrecy envelope, contact your county election office for their recommended next steps. Your voice matters in this election. Don’t let the swamp ballots stand in your way! 🐊 Remember to make your plan to vote! Check your voter registration status TODAY. Register to vote by October 21, request a mail-in ballot by October 29, or vote in person on November 5 from 7am-8pm (or until your polling place closes. If you are in line when the polls close, REMEMBER TO STAY IN LINE! YOU CAN STILL VOTE)! This election sets the stage for organizing at the local, state, and national levels. We need elected officials who will work with our communities. Officials who believe everyone deserves to live with safety, dignity, and the resources we need to thrive. Your voice is your vote in this election, and it’s up to us to choose what our future looks like. Our candidates may not be perfect, but we have to remember voting is a strategy. Sitting an election out because a candidate doesn’t match our views 100% is not the most ethical option. Voting is a tool, and to organize for a Pennsylvania that works for all of us and get candidates who do align with our values elected up and down the ballot, we have to use the tools we have. When we elect officials willing to work with us, we have more power to move them. When we fight, we win. Over in NEPA, we saw community power at the local level in action on September 25 when a majority of Lackawanna county commissioners rejected an effort to eliminate ballot drop boxes. This comes just after neighboring Luzerne County voted to eliminate ballot drop boxes weeks before the upcoming election. These neighboring counties and events show us why elections are so important. Electing moveable candidates willing to work with us and protect our rights and freedoms is essential to building a PA that works for all of us. Join our new Deep Canvass Lead, Ezra, and knock doors for the Harris and Walz campaign every Friday in Lancaster or every Saturday until election day! Don’t live near Berks or need a virtual option? Join us for deep canvass phone banks on Thursdays from 5 to 8 PM with People’s Action to have compassionate conversations with fellow Pennsylvanians about this upcoming election.
