Ways to Give and Ways to Live!

A spring update from LVSU!

I hope you’re ready for a post full of awesome links! At LVSU, we have a lot going on and we’re working overtime to make sure that you’re up to date! (One of the links might be to a fun site so I guess you have to click them all!)

Last week we had folks calling their representatives to make sure that rent was cancelled for the duration of the crisis. So many called and now it’s time for phase 2: call Governor Wolf! Use this tool to make sure he knows that we’re still struggling and need rent and mortgages cancelled now!

I also want to extend an invitation to People of Color to attend a statewide POC Digital Gathering that a team of us are organizing for this coming Sunday afternoon, 3-5pm. We want to provide a space for communities of color across the state to come together to share stories of cultural trauma and cultural resilience during the COVID crisis, and to align on shared strategic responses to the crisis that ensure our communities survival and future thriving.

For the Lehigh Valley specifically, there is an event for the African American community hosted by Rev. Kari Holmes at 7pm on the same day. Both meetings will be a great opportunity to make a plan to help our communities! You can register here.

Finally, our best buddies at Make The Road PA have created a solidarity fund for Pennsylvanians who won’t receive a stimulus check. Most immigrants, though serving in the most essential roles, have been left out of the CARES Act. Your donation will make it directly to a family in need

If the economy is opened too quickly, it could spell disaster. So, stay safe and stay tuned for more ways to stay involved with LV Stands Up!
